Solutions for the Farming Sector |
|
A farming operation is by definition a biomass factory. Many residues can be used to produce energy: residues from livestock farming (manure) and from land agriculture (plant residues, plants). This can also be complemented with the addition of waste from food processors. Often, these installations are used to produce electricity. Anaerobic digestion at the farm is the most widely deployed AD application in Europe and North America. The reason: these countries, states or other local jurisdictions have attractive tariffs in place to buy the electricity produced. Farms generally would not be able to use all of the biogas generated for heating purposes. The farm operation can also easily use the digestate produced, a high quality fertilizing product. Agri Valbio, a subsidiary of Valbio Canada, has been set up to supply anaerobic digestion systems to this market. |
