Solutions for Communities |

Municipal sewage works are often equipped with an anaerobic digestion system. The digestion process provides sanitization and also reduces the odour potential from the sludge. Municipalities and communities are expected more and more to dispose of their municipal organic waste away from landfills. Government policies are becoming more demanding; landfill sites have issues, be they related to capacity or the need to capture the methane they release in order to reduce green house gas (GHG) emissions. Public and private organizations will become increasingly interested in the opportunity to set up facilities for the treatment of organic waste from various sources and the production of renewable energy. For example, a regional center could be set up to treat municipal sludge, sludge from septic tanks, municipal solid waste, and organic waste from companies. The biogas produced could be used in different ways, perhaps as a transportation fuel for fleets of vehicles such as garbage trucks and other utility vehicles. Valbio's technologies for anaerobic digestion and post-treatment offer first class solutions to this market. The use of anaerobic digestion produces renewable energy and reduces the waste going to landfill sites. |
